Short story- What does this feel like??!!!

“What does this feel like??!!”, this was my constant ,generic question whenever I used to meet him, his lavish lifestyle never failed to amaze me, ohhhoo I started blabbering and didn’t introduced myself, so I am “Vihaan” and the person I am talking about is “Samar” , my “kind of” best friend !!!

‘Kind of’ because we both belong to different worlds. I am from a “humble middle class” family and he is a “rich spoiled brat”, where my morning used to start by my mum’s “not so sweet” words ,he had an army of servants by his side always, right from waking him up, serving his favorite breakfast, to getting him ready, he had helpers all around him for everything, where I used to wear my elder brother’s old clothes , he has his own wardrobe filled with different types of clothes , all the more he didn’t need to plead infront of anyone for watching his favorite cartoon as he has his own TV set in his room ,yes!!! he does have his personal room , if you will see the villa he lives in , I bet your mouth will be wide open like mine for atleast a minute or two !!!! His father is a big businessman and mostly remain out of the town and his mother died when he was a year old. So he has the whole house by himself all the time, everything in the house happens according to his wish , he was living a life of a king, a life which children of 11 year age like mine can only dream of.

Everytime when he used to tell me something new , like playing football on new PlayStation , snowfall he witnessed on his Europe trip , watching live cricket match in the stadium and many more. I used to ask him the same question “what does this feel like??!!” , for a middle class boy like me, who has only been to “grand parent’s house” for holidays, this all sounds like a fairytale.

I don’t know why we were friends because I didn’t have anything special like this to share !!! What I had was only list of complaints like “my elder brother teases me a lot”, “dad scolded me again”, ” mumma didn’t make my favorite dish today,she doesn’t love me” but he never complained, he always used to hear all this the same way I used to listen his picture perfect stories .

Today while we were playing games on his new computer, i got way too indulged and lost the track of time , now it has grown dark outside.

“I need to go back home right now” , I said hastily

“But why??? One more game???”, He insisted

“Naah man, its getting dark, mum must be waiting, if I get late for another second, she will be very worried,” i replied.

“She will be worried??!!” He asked slowly as if thinking something.

“Yeah !!!! She will turn the whole house upside down and will start a search operation of my name and she will be sitting on the entrance of the house only , waiting for me, until I return , she literally care too much, such a paranoid she is,” I said and laughed.

“Care !!!” He muttered softly, then said-

“What does this feel like!!!??”
